Advanced amateur pianists are invited to join this 8-week program starting June 2 at the beautiful Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy. It will be led by renowned Dr. Michael Berkovsky, with guest appearance master classes by other notable pianists including James Anagnoson, Dean of the Glenn Gould School.

The program includes weekly master classes, with all participants having opportunities to play and receive feedback, and also seminars on key topics of interest, such as minimizing performance anxiety, addressing physical tension, effective memorization, repertoire selection, motivation and focus, and the curious case of the child prodigy.

There will be a final recital at the Academy on Gordon Lightfoot’s own donated Steinway piano, for willing participants and their guests.

Who Should Join: Adults with a passion for piano, playing at level of RCM Grade 10 or higher.   Number of performing-participants is limited to 12.  

Preparation: 2 pieces/movements.  If one or more concerto movements are planned, Dr. Berkovsky  would accompany.  Memorization is optional.  

Schedule: Classes (7) on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, starting June 2 and ending July 14; final recital Thursday July 21 at 7:30 p.m.   All classes take place in the Gordon Lightfoot Performance Hall of the Academy, with an adjoining kitchen facility.

Cost: $975 for performing participants including concert performance; $300 auditor fee
